Recently I was driving on I-70 from Ohio to Indiana in an old fashion ‘gully-washer’ downpour. It was difficult to see. Visibility was very limited. All of a sudden my GPS alerted me and rerouted me because of a major accident. As I exited the interstate, it was vitally important to trust my GPS because I had no idea where I was at the moment. One turn after another. One corn field after another. One farm after another. One narrow road after another. One small town after another. However, 45-50 minutes later I recognized familiar territory and terrain—and before I knew it, my GPS had guided me to my final destination.In a similar way, we can’t trust someone we don’t know, and there is only one way to truly know God—and that is through His Word (the Bible). The Bible is God’s “SPS” for our lives (Spiritual Positioning System). There is no magic formula to make us spiritual giants overnight, there is no mystical prayer to pray three times a day to mature us, build our faith, and make us towers of strength and confidence. There is only the Bible, the single source of power and “Spiritual Positioning System” that will change our lives from the inside out. However, it takes effort, discipline and daily diligence to know the God who is sovereign and controls everything. If we drink deeply out of His Word everyday, and let it fill our minds and hearts, the sovereignty of God will become very clear to us—and we will rejoice in it because we will know intimately and trust completely the God who controls all things for our good—and for His perfect purpose.Trust your GPS, but more importantly, Trust God’s Word, the Bible, as your spiritual ‘SPS’—it will help guide you to your eternal destinationLove God.
