"I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?"
Jeremiah 32:27
While playing professional baseball in the low level minor leagues, our primary mode of transportation was the bus. Enduring countless bus trips during the course of the season—traveling from town to town and city to city. During one particular road trip our bus had to travel through a long, dark tunnel right through the side of a mountain. It was dark! As in pitch black dark. No lights at all. Only the headlights of the bus illuminated the way. However, while the bus traveled through the dark tunnel and the world faded to black—never once did I try and bail out or jump out. Of course not! I sat still and trusted the bus driver to get us through the long, dark tunnel. He was in control of the bus and I trusted him to get us through the dark tunnel and to our final destination. In a similar way today, we need to hear that God is still in control. Our world is a mess. Evil is everywhere. You might be going through times of uncertainty. Despair. Difficulties. Heartache. Pain. Unanswered questions with an uncertain future. However, it is in these times that we need to hear and be reminded that it’s not over until God says so. We need to hear that life’s mishaps, challenges, struggles and tragedies are not a valid reason to bail out.Listen Closely: So what is the way to deal with discouragement? What is the cure for disappointment? What is the antidote to fear? The answer is to go back to the beginning and read the story of God. Read it again and again. Lean in to it. Chew on it. And be reminded that you aren’t the first person to weep. You aren’t the first person to be helped. Read the story, and remember the story is yours. Yes, God is writing your story—don’t steal His pen! You may not like what is being written at this moment in your life, however you’re not the author, God is. His plan is timeless. His story is perfect. His ending is flawless. Trust His plan. Trust His story. And above all else, trust His Promise.“I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world.
