But I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead...
Philippians 3:13
Looking Forward
Recently I read a story about a small baby that was given up for adoption. The small baby was located and found in a river, healthy and unharmed. He was the youngest of three children, he had a sister and a brother. It was odd an way the adopting mother gained custody of the baby; nevertheless the adopted mother protected him and cared for him with special attention. She saw that he was a special child. He was raised in a wealthy luxurious home with all kinds of servants. He enjoyed the finest of everything.
The baby grew to become a young child and then on to adulthood. His life story took an abrupt turn when he was 40 years old. He watched from a distance someone abusing and beating one of his own blood relatives. Sometime later when he felt the time was right, he ambushed the perpetrator and murdered him. He tried to hide the man's body; however, someone saw him. He fled the scene, eventually escaping to a far country, never to be caught.
Then, 40 years later, when this man turned 80 years old he had a personal encounter with God in a remote location. You see, God wasn’t finished with him and continued pursuing him all this time. His story was still being written. At 80 years old, God used this man’s life to deliver an oppressed people from their oppressor in a land called Egypt. The mans name?—Moses!
Plato said 400 years B.C. “The life which is unexamined is not worth living.” Keep a critical eye upon your own life. Examine yourself. We will discover things no one else knows.Stop being preoccupied with what has been and start looking forward to what might be. Stop living in past failures, mess ups or mistakes. Stop the bad habit of longing for things in the past or reliving and rehearsing lifestyles of success or even your own personal “wall of fame.”
Today, I remind you as the Apostle Paul clearly reminds us—“Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.”Listen closely, God is not finished writing your story. Regardless of your age, status in life, successes or failures—as long as you are breathing, God is not finished writing. Don’t steal His pen. He loves you and He has a great plan for your life. Surrender your will to His will by placing your faith and trust in Him.Keep Looking Forward!Love God. Love People. Live Sent.
Be Worth Being,
